Volunteer Program

Volunteer to end violence against women, and join us in being part of the solution.     

Volunteering at BWSS can be a life-changing experience.   As a volunteer you will learn valuable skills in the areas of crisis intervention, group facilitation, administrative support, retail sales and/or public speaking. You will be working with a team of like minded women who are committed to your success and the success of women using our services.

Volunteer opportunities include:

•  Crisis line and Intake Volunter
This volunteer opportunity is for women who see themselves ready to make a difference by working directly with women survivors of violence. After completing our intensive 12 week Violence Prevention and Intervention Training Program, you will answer the crisis and intake line, providing information to women and the community; facilitate support groups for women survivors of violence; and deliver workshops to high school students on dating violence. •  Office Volunteer
This volunteer opportunity is the ideal spot for making a difference whether you are new to office work or you possess serious office skills and want to share the wealth. Office volunteers are required weekdays during the day to greet women, answer business inquiries, and other administrative support. •  Retail Program Volunteer
This volunteer opportunity will see you making a difference in women's lives through fashion. Working with a dedicated and energetic team of women you will help women dealing with relationship violence access free clothing and household goods through our Voucher Program, and generate revenue to help ensure that our services remain free to all women. In this dynamic and fast paced environment you will be trained in sales, merchandising and visual merchandising, and know that you are making a real difference in women's lives.   Contact: Retail Program Volunteer Coordinator, Email: mysisterscloset@bwss.org, phone: 604-687-1868, ext 315.
