Vancouver Skyline on Coast Salish Territory

On behalf of Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS) Board of Directors, I am so pleased to share that BWSS Executive Director, Angela Marie MacDougall, was recognized on November 14, 2016 as one of Vancouver Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful People.

angelamariemacdougallFor almost thirty years, Angela’s work as an advocate, activist, and front-line worker has brought tangible transformation to service and program delivery as well as community development. Angela is strategic and proactive and continues to strengthen connections within the community and beyond. Her many years of steadfast commitment and tremendous work are what have raised Battered Women’s Support Services profile as an organization. She works tirelessly for the elimination of violence against women daily, in every aspect of her being. As members of the Board of Directors, we are immensely proud of our Executive Director and the leadership she provides.

“I am humbled and personally honoured for this recognition and so proud to be a part of the Battered Women’s Support Services team. My leadership is only possible due to the strong and determined women who are a part of our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers. However, violence against women continues unabated. Ultimately, it’s because of the thousands of women in B.C. who live with violence that lead me to persist in this effort.”  –Angela Marie MacDougall

Congratulations Angela and thank you for the leadership, clarity and fortitude you bring in your role as Executive Director. We know she will continue to move BWSS into the forefront of change.

Sincerely,

jj
