Every other day

a woman in Canada

is killed by femicide.

we’re working to change that.

Commit to #KNOWMORE2023

Last year, our crisis line received 20,607 calls for support.

BWSS supported more than 720 survivors with safe housing to escape violence or abuse and 4,560 counselling appointments.

Since 2020, calls to our crisis line increased 300%. We completed 4,677 safety plans in 2022 alone.
For every survivor who reaches out for support there are thousands more living with serious and severe levels of violence.
This International Women’s Day Commit to #kNOwmore
Survivors are more likely to tell a trusted friend, family member or co-worker about the abuse than call police.

This year let’s commit to #KNOWMORE

We have to collectively make sure that community based services such as BWSS are available to assist survivors of violence because they tell us that they feel safer going to anti-violence organizations rather than calling authorities including the police.

Ask your family, friends, neighbours and co-workers to #KNOWMORE
