Winnipeg, MB  “We must keep looking – leaving no stone unturned…” That is what Bernadette Smith and her family keep telling themselves as another day passes with no sign of their loved one, Smith’s sister Claudette Osborne-Tyo.  Claudette was 21 years old when she was last seen in Winnipeg on July 25, 2008.

“How can a human being just disappear without a trace?  How do I explain to her four babies, my grandchildren, that one day their mother just vanished? asks Brenda Osborne.

On Friday August 20th, Osborne, Smith and their family will gather at O’odena Circle at the Forks for the second annual fund raising concert entitled “No Stone Unturned”. The focus of this event is supporting the families of missing and murdered women and to create awareness of the profound impact of the loss of a loved one.

Bernadette Smith, Claudette’s sister and a driving force behind the concert, is especially grateful to the Manitoba entertainment community that continues to come out in full force to lend their support and their voices – through music, word, performance and donations.

Musicians who are scheduled to perform include Sierra Noble, Heatbag Records, Kimberly Dawn, Wab Kinew, Storm X Mayer, Little Hawk, Fresh IE, Hector Menow w/Horns and Halos, the Asham Stompers and many more. Pure Country 94.7 FM from Peguis First Nation will broadcast live all day – listen live at www.purecountryradio.ca.

The concert will be emceed throughout the day by a variety of local Aboriginal celebrities including Tina Keeper, Shaneen Robinson, Rosanna Deerchild and Melissa Spence. There will also be an incredible silent auction, as well as dance performances and displays. The funds raised from this event will go directly towards the creation of a tool kit of supports to assist families through the devastating process of what to do when a loved one goes missing, including how to deal with police and media.  There will also be resources included for counseling, advocacy and support services.

The No Stone Unturned Concert takes place at the O’odena Circle at the Forks on Friday, August 20, 2010, from Noon until 10:00 pm and is free to attend.
