It is a very busy time of year and the longest day of the year is less than a week away. Battered Women’s Support Services has a strong alliance with Walk4Justice. Members of Walk4Justice will walk from Kamloops to Winnipeg in honour the lost but not forgotten women who have died through violence or who are still missing. Where social and government apathy continue Walf4Justice “will continue to walk to seek justice, closure, equality and accountability for the families of the women and girls and we are still demanding a public inquiry into all the cases we have already presented to politicians and leadership nationwide” said Gladys Radek, co-founder Walk4Justice.
The walkers will walk through 47 communities across the four provinces to arrive in Winnipeg on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. “I must walk for the women who have gone missing along the Highway of Tears” said Mabel Todd, Elder who previously walked from Vancouver to Ottawa and from Vancouver to Prince Rupert.
To ensure their safety on this journey Walk4Justice requires two vans as well as drivers.
