This Giving Tuesday, BWSS has a unique opportunity—and an urgent challenge. Two anonymous donors have pledged a $10,000 matching donation, meaning every dollar you donate today will be doubled, doubling the impact of your generosity for women and families impacted by violence.

But this year, we face an unprecedented obstacle. The ongoing Canada Post strike has ground our annual mailing campaign—typically responsible for raising 20% of our annual funds—to a halt. With no resolution in sight, we risk losing $80,000, enough to fund essential services for 800 survivors of violence.

$80,000 is more than just a number. It’s access to life-saving legal advocacy, housing support, employment services, safety planning, and emergency resources for women fleeing violence. Without these critical funds, we may be unable to meet our community’s growing needs.

This year alone, our staff and volunteers responded to 52,649 requests for service across all programs. Behind every number is a woman, a child, a family seeking safety, hope, and a future free from violence.
