2011 Legal Advocacy Worskhops

Workshops will be held Wednesday from 12 noon to 2 pm

Location: Battered Women’s Support Services in Vancouver (for confidentiality purposes please call us to obtain the address)

In Attendance: The BWSS Legal Advocate, a volunteer lawyer (may be male) and women who need support with their current legal cases.

Format of Workshop: These workshops are designed for women who are ineligible for legal aid and/or in need of legal support for their cases. Lawyers and other professionals with experience on the topic will facilitate all workshops. Women may bring forms or relevant paperwork to the workshop for their own self-reference.

Help End Violence Against Women

Prevention and Intervention Training Program 2011

Twice a year BWSS offers training for women who want to volunteer on our Crisis and Intake line to provide crisis support to women survivors of violence.

Participants will Learn:

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Peer Counselling and Communication
  • Theoretical Framework of Violence Against Women
  • Group Facilitation and Group Design
  • Criminal, Civil, Family and Immigration Law
  • Anti-Oppression Analysis
  • Safety Planning
  • and more…

Join Battered Women’s Support Services
and provide support to women survivors of violence on our Crisis and Intake line, facilitate support groups for women survivors of violence, work in our retail program, deliver workshops for youth, and participate in special projects.

Information sessions:
January 26th at 6pm and
January 27th at 3:30pm

Training Sessions:
March 18th to June 10th
held Fridays from 9:30am to 4:00pm
