Sex Work Supports and Exiting Consortium

Several members of the Sex Work, Supports and Exiting Working Group of the City of Vancouver Task Force have formed a Consortium that will combine their diverse expertise and experience to oversee the design, development and implementation of a program that provides individuals in the sex industry with options to transition and/or exit to alternative employment and life path options. The Consortium is comprised of Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS),Aboriginal Front Door, HIM – Health Initiative for Men Society (HUSTLE Program), PACE Society, SWAN Vancouver Society, and the WISH Drop-In Centre Society.

Presently, we are seeking an accomplished and motivated professional who brings a combination of education, training or experience commensurate with the responsibilities of this position. In collaboration with the Consortium, you will undertake a mandate that includes a literature review of sex industry exiting and transition programs and a review of sex industry exiting/transitioning best practices. You will be responsible for developing a strategic plan, a service delivery model and secure funding specific to a program for individuals who seek support with transitioning and/or exiting sex work. You will have the opportunity to work within a multifaceted team to address a well-recognized gap in services and programs for sex workers and individuals involved in the sex industry.

Along with a broad understanding, knowledge and perspectives of sex work and the sex industry in the local context you will have demonstrated knowledge of existing supports and services for individuals engaged in sex work and knowledge of service priorities and gaps. You have a strong familiarity with harm reduction approaches to sex work,  strong, communication writing and research skills as well as proven experience in project management, grant writing, fund development, budgeting and program evaluation. You are a reliable and consistent individual who is both a team player and who can also work independently with minimal supervision. This position will require you to have a proven ability to work well in a self-directed environment.
