Yesterday, June 28, 2015, 40 people ran, walked and wheeled in support of Battered Women’s Support Services in the Scotiabank Half-Marathon and 5k run/walk. What a beautiful day and although we all really felt the summer heat our team persevered.
Thank you so much to all the runners, walkers, wheelers and donors who made our event successful! The commitment from our amazing team played an integral role in helping us participate in the event! As of our last count we have raised an exceptional, $27,792.70!
Our fearless leader, Angela Marie MacDougall, ran in the half marathon (21km) and pledged to raise $10K so BWSS can add another eight hours of counselling services a week and with another day 44 women could come off our waitlist and receive counselling. Sponsor Angela and help her reach her goal here.
Sean, at just 8 years old was our youngest runner and ran 5k! We are so proud of him and his dedication to run in the 5K.
Here he is with his mom Alex. You can still sponsor Sean here.
Our amazing and dedicated volunteer for over 7 years, Kim Paquin, also ran in the half-marathon in support of BWSS! Help Kim reach her fundraising goal here

Another fantastic fundraising event yesterday by Squash Republic who participated in Play It Forward, where an adorable little crew of children played soccer to raise money for BWSS! Thank you very much Robert, from Squash Republic for organizing and raising funds for BWSS and to all the little ones who played! More pictures from the event here.
